Where are interpreters located for OPI?

Our RIO interpreters work from offices located throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

How is confidentiality assured?

Confidentiality is assured as our call centre is enclosed area. We have incorporated sound absorption materials and techniques within our call centre, including background noise reducing headsets for our interpreters. All interpreters are required to shred their notes using our shredding service boxes located right outside the call centre. They all abide by a code of ethics including confidentiality as part of their contractual obligations and training.  Home-based interpreters are required to work in private, uninterrupted home offices that has a dedicated phone line that is not shared with the rest of the household. They are also required to shred their notes upon completion of their shift.

How do you handle varying capacity?

Capacity can be scaled up to meet additional demand and volume surges. We have proven that with the additional languages that we have brought on board since our inception. We at RIO monitor monthly demands for languages and ramp up accordingly.

How are power outages prevented / prepared for?

Our call centre platform is a hosted platform that is based out of the state-of-art data centre at 150 Front Street West which has all the major telecom providers running through it. It has built in redundancy and power generation for power outages. All our calls can be routed remotely to alternate phone numbers as required.

What emergency procedures are in place?

We can redirect calls remotely to alternate numbers – we have lockdown procedures in place for our call centre and with our strategic alliance with Language Line – we can always have the calls all roll over to Other members of our network.
